R34 Restaurant and Cafe

R34 Restaurant, is a most exciting new Scottish restaurant, set in a stunningly renovated A-grade, Art Deco building directly behind Glasgow International Airport just 15 minutes from Glasgow city centre. Named after the airship that completed the first transatlantic air crossing in both directions in 1919, the R34 was constructed on the site where the restaurant is now located.

 Committed to sourcing organic produce wherever possible R34 Restaurant wants to ensure customers receive the highest quality food, with great emphasis placed on supporting the local community. Under Head Chef and Executive Director John Shield’s culinary philosophy of producing simple food using the finest, fresh ingredients, R34 Restaurant offers unpretentious classic British food with a twist and a rustic edge. Much of the produce appearing on the menu is sourced from the best Scottish suppliers, including The Aberfoyle Butcher and wild venison from Kenneth Morrison in Wester Ross.

R34’s starters menu includes such tempting options as: peat smoked haddock with colcannon, poached egg and pommery mustard dressing; avocado, prawn and crab cocktail with croque monsieur; pate forestiere with homemade cumberland sauce, bacan lardon salad and brioche. Main courses include: braised shin of Aberfoyle Beef, creamed potatoes, roasted beetroot and pan juices; pan fried brill with béarnaise sauce, spinach, french beans and new potatoes; Lamb wellington with crab moussoline, dauphinoise potatoes and baby leeks and fillet of Ayrshire pork with gallette potatoes, forest mushrooms, braised onion and parsala jus. Meanwhile desserts include: red berry and rose jelly with clotted cream; crème brulee, raspberry pavlova with vanilla ice cream and a cheese board.
